Vallecitos Water District to begin use of eLogger at its operations in California. Vallecitos Water District is an independent, special district dedicated to providing water, wastewater and reclamation services to approximately 94,000 people in a 45-square-mile area that includes San Marcos; the community of Lake San Marcos; portions of Carlsbad, Escondido and Visa; and other surrounding unincorporated areas.
The Meadowlark Water Reclamation Facility produces up to 5 million gallons of reclaimed water per day, allowing the District to recycle up to 74 percent of the wastewater generated in our service area. After being treated to the appropriate level, the recycled water is sold to the City of Carlsbad and the Olivenhain Municipal Water District for landscaping purposes. The water is then used to irrigate locations such as the Carlsbad flower fields, Aviara Golf Course, and Legoland.
At 33 million gallons and 392 feet in diameter, VWD’s Twin Oaks Reservoir Facility, at one time, was the largest of its kind. The concrete, circular reservoir went into operation in mid-February 2000, providing crucial local water storage for Vallecitos customers. The $25 million project, including land acquisition and accompanying pipeline, is located on a 29-acre, rural site in the northern portion of the District. Its location enables the reservoir to serve nearly 95 percent of the district.
